چکیده

A new laser technology which achieves nearly 100 nm quasi-continuous tuning using only injection current control in a four-section Grating-Coupler, Sampled-Reflector (GCSR) laser was used to simultaneously detect CO and CO2 in room-temperature gas mixtures. The same GCSR laser was used to perform in-situ measurements of CO, H2O, and OH in the exhaust gases of a methane/air flame. This laser is being evaluated for inclusion in a multi-species combustion emissions exhaust analysis sensor and its operational characteristics as they impact gas sensing are described. Preliminary results suggest that this single laser can be used to replace multi-laser sensor configurations for some combustion emissions monitoring applications.

High temperature in-situ IR laser absorption CO-sensor for combustion control

In view of improved control of the combustion process in e.g. industrial glass furnaces, accurate in-situ COgas sensors are required. With help of reliable in-situ gas sensors, burner control can be optimised. By better burner control, NOx emissions can be reduced and the radiative heat transfer from combustion chamber to the glass melt and thus the energy efficiency of glass furnaces can be im...

Isotopic Studies of Methane Oxidation Pathways on PdO Catalysts

Mechanistic details of CH4 oxidation were examined on PdO/ ZrO2 catalysts using isotopic tracer methods and measurements of kinetic isotope effects. Normal kinetic isotope effects were observed using CH4/O2 and CD4/O2 reactant mixtures. The (kH/kD) ratio was between 2.6 and 2.5, and it decreased slightly as the reaction temperature increased from 527 to 586 K. These kinetic isotope effects refl...

Dimethyl ether combustion catalyzed by supported Pd, Rh, and Pt clusters: Site requirements and reaction pathways

Clusters of Pt and Pd catalyze dimethyl ether (DME) combustion to CO2 and H2O at 400–600 K without detectable formation of byproducts. Rh clusters are less active and also form CO, HCHO, and CH3OH in this temperature range. On Pd, isotopic and kinetic studies have shown that DME–O2 reactions proceed via redox cycles limited by hydrogen abstraction from chemisorbed DME molecules without the invo...

Studies of C2H6/ air and C3H8/ air Plasma assisted combustion kinetics in a nanosecond discharge

The paper presents the studies of ethane and propane/air plasma assisted combustion at a pressure of 60 torr and temperature 300K. O atoms in the plasma have been measured as a function of time after a single discharge pulse using TALIF (Two photon laser induced fluorescence) at 60 torr and temperature of 300 K for these mixtures at various equivalence ratios. A plasma chemistry model of hydroc...

Temperature-Dependent Feature Sensitivity Analysis for Combustion Modeling

Sensitivity analysis is one of the most widely used tools in kinetic modeling. Typically, it is performed by perturbing the A-factors of the individual reaction rate coefficients and monitoring the effect of these perturbations on the observables of interest. However, the sensitivity coefficients obtained in this manner do not contain any information on possible temperature dependent effects. Y...
